Quercus was part of a contractor-led design-build team, charged with the renovation of the original offices and shop building when Hoover Dam was built to create Lake Mead.
It lies in the Date Street Historic District of charming Boulder City, and the process from proposal to construction was monitored by the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
As many of us are aware, in the amazing growth cycles of the Las Vegas region, little remains of history in terms of architecture. That makes this especially important to Nevadans.
Our interpretation of the site and landscape work was: what would be done with modern technology and plant availability, to create an oasis frugal in financial and water resources – and in harmony with the neighborhood of lawns, shade trees, and so on.
